About this blog

What Works is bringing better evidence and experimental techniques to bear on public policy. We co-ordinate the What Works Network and Cross Government Trial Advice Panel, and we work within government to improve policy through evidence use and experimentation.

The What Works Network was set up in 2013. Today, it comprises 10 What Works Centres which produce evidence about the most effective practices across a number of policy areas, including health, education, local economic growth and ageing. Each What Works Centre works with public sector decision-makers at every level to make sure decisions are based on the based on the best available evidence.

This blog has been created in order to shine a light on the best examples of evidence use across the public sector. Here, we share resources and information to help policy makers and practitioners make the best use of experimentation and evidence in their own work.
